CORONA VIRUS (COVID 19) UPDATED 23rd February 2021
Boris Johnson announced on 22nd February his roadmap for the relaxation of the lockdown restrictions.
Following the advice it is our intention to reopen the camp partially from 12th April 2021. This will mean that we will be accepting bookings for only 2 sets of guests at a time. This will ensure that each group will have their own bathroom, shower and kitchen facilities i.e. no sharing of any facilities. This is in line with the government guidance on self catering accomodation providers.
We will then intend to reopen fully from the 17th May 2021 for all our yurts and shepherds hut sharing all the facilities. This is assuming that the numbers continued to show the improvement required to meet the governments targets.
If you would like to make a booking or have any further questions about a holiday with us please get in touch:
email: enquiries@devon-yurts.co.uk
telephone: 01803 762774
mobile: 07779 800703

We are delighted to have received this email from guests, Dawn and Jim who stayed at the end of July 2020:
I wanted to say how much we've enjoyed our stay and appreciate all the effort and hard work you have put in throughout these uncertain times.
From our arrival to departure you showed us nothing but 100% of your time to which we were so grateful for.
On a more personal note.
The cleanliness of everything was first class.
I am a Director of an independent company who deal with the Safety and Hygiene of all NHS Hospitals
throughout the UK.
This wasn’t a check but a nice stay and once again thank you

PREVIOUS POSTS ABOUT THE PANDEMIC
We are now entering the 2nd lockdown and as such we are unable to accept any guests from 5th November - 3rd December due to the government restrictions. We are however accepting bookings for 2021. We are anticipating another busy year with many people preferring a stay-cation rather than risking a foreign holiday, so please get in touch if you would like to book for 2021. Our yurts will be available from Easter 2021 but our shepherds hut will be available again through the winter months once the lockdown restrictions are lifted.
The months of reopening from July 2020 and since the first lockdown saw an unprecedented demand for holidays with us and we have been able to welcome some lovely guests all through the summer season. The camp was fully booked from July - the end of September and our guests have been fabulous about following the hygiene guidelines.
We now have a QR code which is to be scanned on arrival to assist in the track and trace initiative. We have also now taken down our yurts for the winter (reopening for yurt bookings from Easter 2021) however the shepherds hut is available through the winter months, pandemic restrictions permitting.
This pandemic situation is of course under constant review by the government and we fully support the efforts being made to control the spread of this deadly virus. Stay safe please. We are asking all our guests to practice social distancing of at least 1 metre but hopefully 2 metres which every is possible. We also ask out guests to wash their hands frequently and we provide all the cleaning products in our shared areas, so that you can feel safe whilst staying here.
If you were unable to take your holiday this summer Virgin Experience Days will extend vouchers with a short expiry date, please visit their website using the "My voucher" option to extend your voucher.
Please be reassured that our team will always be highly stringent around hygiene and daily cleaning regimes including thorough, frequent hand washing and disinfecting and cleaning all surfaces as appropriate.
Please also trust that we are closely monitoring every development and will do everything within our power to ensure that Hemsford Yurt camp is a safe and inviting place for you all in the future.
We would also like to reiterate to all our guests that our yurt camp is in a very peaceful rural location away from crowds, it is very easy to social distance. We provide guests with hot hand washing facilities, hot showers, hot water for washing up, soap, paper hand towels and soft toilet paper. Our bed linen is always laundered at 60 degrees and we advise to practice social distancing. All crockery and cutlery is washed in hot soapy water and hard surfaces are cleaned and disinfected. We do, like many camp sites, have shared toilets and bathroom facilities and kitchen facilities, and we will ask all our guests to be respectful and leave the facilities clean after each use. We provide all the necessary cleaning materials in order to do this and we will endeavour to clean frequently.
Please be responsible and if you feel ill before your stay you must tell us and cancel your trip. If you feel ill during or after your stay you must let us know immediately. Thank you all for your cooperation.
We will of course continue to be guided by the government guidelines. You can click here for the latest information: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/
