When guests arrive at our yurt camp we always like to show them around the yurts and the bathroom and kitchen facilities, however we often leave them to explore and discover the joys of our lake and fields. We have recently added a special new seat to the lakeside so that our guests can sit and enjoy the view over the water. I think that some guests think that I am a little bit loopy when I ask them if they have discovered our unicorn!!! Pictured here is "Minerva" the unicorn seat - surprisingly comfortable and definitely a talking point! Luckily for all our guests the weather has been perfect here for the past few weeks with very hot and humid days and cool clear nights - perfect for toasting marshmallows over the camp fire.

Summer is a time when the grass grows at an amazing rate and at the yurt camp we have to mow the grass at least twice a week to keep the grass from becoming wild and overgrown. We are conscious of the fact that our guests come and stay with us to enjoy the quiet and peacefulness of the countryside so we always try and make sure that we carry out this essential maintenance during the daytime and between bookings. Mowing with a ride on tractor is quite therapeutic and our little tractor does the job well. The strimming is always necessary as the hedge sides and banks are full of nettles and weeds and wild flowers and quickly encroach into the field. This picture above shows the Dart yurt after we have mown in the summer sunshine. |
