Well its been a few weeks since we first opened and its amazing how many people have already enjoyed the glamping at Hemsford. The weather has seemingly not put off anyone as yet, and dare I say that its starting to get better now after what seems like weeks of rain and gales! We have our first repeat bookings now as well, so its nice to have some confirmation that people are really enjoying our little piece of rural Devon, here at Hemsford with a touch of Mongolian style!

Well who would have thought it - rain and gale force winds in June. Our glampers are braving the elements and make good use of the wood burning stoves. At least its very warm and cosy inside the yurts. There has been lots of pond dipping (when the sun was out) and some great camp fires. The lake is teeming with a multitude of tadpoles, nymphs and dragonfly larvae, lots of baby moorhens and ducklings have been born in the past week and the swallows and house martins have been really busy skimming across the lake to drink and collecting mud from the shallows and building their nests in the stable block and on the side of our house. Hopefully the weather will improve very , although it looks like there will not be a hosepipe ban here in Devon now - everything looks so green and verdant and it seems that you can almost sit and watch the grass and hedgerows grow.
The good news is that the Council have now approved our tented site licence so the last piece of red tape has been formally sorted out. Both yurts are looking really nice in the sunshine - so much better now after all the rain we have had recently. We have planted some tubs of herbs around the doorways of both yurts so our glampers can use them if they want to when cooking at the camp. The grass is growing like mad and the camp site is looking really nice with all the newly planted trees sprouting.
