Christmas is a quiet time at Hemsford yurt camp and the end of the year allows us time to reflect on the glamping season and make plans for the new year. We are fortunate to be able to store our yurts in our barns away from the British winter weather. In Mongolia the weather is quite different with the winters being very cold with snow, but not a lot of rainfall. The picture here is of a yurt in Mongolia. The herder, who lives in this yurt woke to find the young snow leopard sleeping on his roof, where he had been storing some meat. So having eaten the store cupboard the leopard decided to have an after dinner nap!!! What an amazing photograph! As many of our previous guests will know I am a lover of all things leopard print and I would love for this endangered species to sleep on the top of our yurts, however somehow I don't think this will ever happen here in Devon!!! Probably just as well as 'elf and safety would have a field day!!!
