Its always lovely to meet and greet the first guests of the season when they arrive to stay in our yurts following the winter closure. Our first guests over the past 2 weeks have had lovely sunny weekends with ever popular visits to the Sharpham vineyard for wine and cheese tasting and trips down the Dart valley on the steam railway from the Primrose Line at Buckfastleigh. Our guests walked to Staverton where they can pick up the train at the station and travel into Totnes by the most scenic route. Also this year we are now really happy to be able to recommend that our guests visit the new community owned pub, the Tally Ho Inn at Littlehempston. The Tally Ho has been closed for the past couple of years as the previous owners wanted to sell the pub. The community rallied around and eventually through a series of share offers and grants and loans have acquired the pub, which is now open for business as a community venture - its an historic moment as there are very few pubs run in this way, with local villagers volunteering to help out with redecorating and running the pub. The Tally Ho is only 3/4 of a mile from the yurt camp and is a lovely place to walk to with the route down the lane following the river Hems through the valley as it winds it way towards Totnes.
